A movie diorama depicting change, growth and forward thinking, and immense courage.

Having watched this movie today, I wept for joy to see prejudice and racial bias being smashed; not with aggression and fighting, but with hard work, consistent effort, genius, the strength of the mind, and bravery in the face of adversity. Whilst the plot focusses on the space race and all the attached complex implications thereof, the rise of the women of color in the show was most certainly the highlight. Each, through their determination to excel in the areas of their learning, broke through the blinkered thinking of the time, and proved that knowledge is indeed power. In a level playing field where we harness the gifts of each member of the team, regardless of race, gender or politics, the benefit to the whole is served.
Of equal importance, to my mind, were the supporting characters of the men, who flew in the face of convention, and put progress and advancement ahead of the laws of the time and the flawed thinking of segregation, separateness and inequality. Without their willingness to open doors, the greater good could not have been served. This was the beginning of the rise of the feminine divine and it was the men who opened the gateways for it to flow. We need both men and women to embrace the feminine divine which isn’t a gender specific energy, it is way of being. I will explain more in time.
I am a South African citizen, and we stand today with a three-fold coalition government for, probably, the first time in history (I am not politically or historically informed and I may be wrong here, but certainly in my lifetime and learning, this is a first). Three leaders with different views are prepared to put aside their masculine need for control, and work together for the greater good of a country in dire need of change. Whether this will work in the long run remains to be seen, but when what you are doing, and have been doing for the longest time, isn’t working, then a new plan of action must be formed. I salute the courage of each of these leaders and hope and pray that the people they are serving will support the coalition and work to heal and uplift the country. Again, the feminine divine has risen through the portals created by men.
Quoting from my book, Weird Shit:
Nothing is a problem, until it becomes a problem for you, and then change is inevitable.
If we sit and stew about what was done, what went wrong, what we are aggrieved about, we remain trapped in the past and will likely repeat the same patterns. We attract into our lives what we focus on. Energy flows there thought goes. It feels more aligned to focus on the opportunities and possibilities of the future. Perhaps that is how we will guide ourselves there, even if we do not fully comprehend where there is. This writing is somewhat different from my usual offering, but it follows the energetic principles I espouse. We hold the power in our own hands to create our future, either by repeating old patterns in ever dizzying cycles and staying stuck in the past, or by embracing the potentials available to us and curating a whole new experience.
For myself I am working hard to release the past and its insidious hold over me. I am using kindness as my true north and guiding star, and I am moving towards the new and exciting possibilities available to me. I have so much to be grateful for, including the freedom to think and write and question to my heart’s content, and to publish those thoughts in any format I desire. So many women under a heavily masculine-controlled past were not afforded that luxury. We cannot take that freedom for granted as it is built on the suffering and sacrifice of all that went before.
Highlighting the difference between the masculine divine and the feminine divine goes something like this… Embracing our feminine is not to become soft or emotional, it is to embrace nurture over control; support over command; upliftment over suppression; gentleness over dominance. It is empowerment vs power over; and that last example is what this gem of a movie was all about.
There is a meme (life is so filled with memes these days as we embrace short sound bites of life on social media for our dopamine hits) that says, “If you can be anything in life, be kind” and another that says, “before you say something ask yourself is it true, is it necessary, and is it kind”. I love these two and I am determined to surround myself with like-minded people who understand kindness and compassion. The need to be right belongs to a bygone era, it is a masculine dominant characteristic and I believe it has no place in the enlightened future. My daughter is teaching me gentle parenting which has its roots in kindness and respect, my granddaughter is teaching me the benefits of this first-hand. I love the lessons and the reward they offer me. I am truly enjoying building a better future, living the principles I espouse (with the odd dive back into old patterning thrown in as a reminder of what I’ve left behind). Keep looking inward and at all times challenge your thinking. Check with your heart before you open your mouth, and press pause before you launch critically into another person. Remember the past certainly, never forgetting the monumental efforts of the change-agents of yesterday, but liberate yourself from it’s grasp and curate your own brighter future.
As always, I offer you my understanding of things. I encourage you at all times to question and decide for yourself what you want to accept and onboard. I am always interested to hear your opinions and I encourage feedback. However, it is essential to understand this vital truth as we journey together:
We don’t have to agree on a single thing to be kind to one another.
So, disagree with me by all means, own your different perspective, but please remain respectful of other’s beliefs and journeys.
Treat yourself with EMpathy and EMbolden yourself to dream. EMerge from your learned way of being, allowing yourself to celebrate life as you EMbrace your full potential. EMancipate yourself from your limitations, EMpowering yourself to live with greater clarity and joy!
Until next time, be kind to one another and honor yourself as the unique and incredibly special soul that you are.
